The Balamban Health Team is set for a new challenge. Spearheaded by the Kagawad for Health Ms. Vilma Fernandez, the baranagay health workers and the community health team, Balamban is ready to fight hypertension. Hypertension is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the barangay. With this, the Balamban Health Team was moved to take action through the series of mass BP taking and the most recent Balamban Health Team Training Seminar.
The seminar was held last September 29, 2015 at the Barangay Hall. All of the eight members were present and were very much participative and active during the session. The session lasted for about three hours. Topics that were discussed include the roles and responsibilities as a member of the health team, vital signs 101 lecture and hypertension 101 lecture. Also the health team underwent a return demonstration of vital signs and blood pressure taking.
The seminar also provided the team with the opportunity to relate their concerns regarding the health system in the barangay. As a team they are looking forward to practice the new skills they have been taught. More so, the team is set to lead the Hataw sessions that shall be started this coming October 20, 2015.
This is the beginning of a healthier Balamban in 2016 and beyond. And as what the Balamban Health Team said, “tun-an jud ug maayo kai gusto namo nga makatabang diri sa Balamban” (We’ll try to learn [the skills] as much as we can, because we want to help Balamban).
