Comprehensive Health Plan Update
PROJECT HOPE: Attaining Better Health Outcomes
Project HOPE: An Overview
The 2011 to 2016 national objectives for health advocates in attaining the three strategic goals of the department of health for the health sector: ensuring financial risk protection access to health facilities and attainment of the health related Millennium Development Goals. As illnesses and diseases are multifactorial in nature, the solutions and strategies outlined in this document go beyond clinical interventions. All key players in the field, especially public health implementors and managers should take to heart the goals, targets and strategies outlined in order to attain Kalusugan Pangkalahatan or Universal Healthcare in this country (2011-2016 National Objectives for Health). |
Through the years, the Philippines put up strategies to make primary health care available to its people. In the early 1990s, the devolution paved the way for participatory management of the local health care system. The responsibility of the health service provision is now in the hands of the local government unit. Hence, primary health care should be within the reach of the people encompassing the lifespan of Filipinos.
With the formulation of the Kalusugan Pangkalahatan which goals include responsive health system, financial risk protection and better health outcomes, health-related MDGs shall be attained. With this, Barangay Bag-ong Balamban seeks to utilize the 8 essential elements of primary health care namely, prevention and control of prevalent health problems, promotion of adequate food supply and proper nutrition, basic sanitation and adequate supply of water, maternal and child care, immunization, prevention and control of endemic diseases, appropriate control and treatment of common diseases, and the provision of essential drugs to help attain the health related MDGs. In the 2011-2016 National Objectives for Health, Zamboanga del Sur has been identified to be one of the 12 areas in the country with the most number of families who are poor and have unmet needs for public health services. The formulation of Project Hope with the Magic 8 for Health is to be the main intervention in reaching to families in Barangay Bag-ong Balamban which shall provide opportunities for implementing public health interventions at a scale that can significantly impact on national indicators. |
